Kiev was founded by three brothers Kyy, Scheck and Horyv and their sister Lybid in first millenium. By this legend they founded the settling for their tribe. History has official evidences about people living on the Podil territory in ninth century. in 882 Kiev became the capital of Kyiv Rus. In 1240 Kiev was almost completely destroyed by tataro-mongols. Starting from 1362 Kyiv was a part of grand duchy Rech Pospolita. In 1654 Russian Impire aquired Kiev. In 1918 Ukraine was independant state with capital Kiev. Then - capital of Ukainian Soviet Social Republic. In 1991 Ukraine pronounced its independence so now Kiev is the capital of Ukraine
